The BMI 35406 is a 1-inch black malleable iron tee fitting used in threaded pipe systems for gas, air, and water distribution. Malleable iron construction provides the strength and ductility required for threaded connections in both residential and light commercial applications. This tee creates a branch connection at a 90-degree angle to the main pipe run. It is installed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians working with Schedule 40 or standard-weight threaded pipe systems. At 0.377 pounds, this fitting is compact and sized for 1-inch nominal pipe.
This fitting is suited for indoor gas piping, compressed air distribution, hydronic heating systems, and general plumbing distribution lines. The black finish indicates it is not galvanized, making it the standard choice for natural gas and propane piping per typical code requirements. It is commonly installed in mechanical rooms, utility spaces, and along branch supply runs where a directional split in the pipe run is required.
Designed as a standard replacement or new-installation tee fitting for 1-inch nominal threaded pipe systems using NPT connections in gas, air, or water service.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, pipefitter, or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local codes, IFGC, or IPC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the supply line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service before making up connections. Do not over-torque threaded joints, as malleable iron fittings can crack if excessive force is applied.
