The BMI 35374 is a 1/2 inch black malleable iron street 90 degree elbow designed for threaded pipe systems in plumbing, gas distribution, and mechanical piping applications. This fitting accepts a male thread on one end and a female thread on the other, allowing it to make a direct 90 degree turn without a separate nipple. The black finish indicates it is not galvanized, making it the standard choice for gas piping and low-pressure steam systems. At 0.094 pounds, it is compact and easy to handle during rough-in and retrofit work.
This street elbow is used in residential and light commercial piping installations where a 90 degree directional change is needed within a tight space. It is commonly installed in natural gas supply lines, propane systems, and low-pressure steam or air distribution headers. The street configuration reduces the number of fittings required at a turn, which simplifies assembly and lowers the chance of leak points. Licensed plumbers and gas fitters are the primary installers of this fitting type.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/2 inch NPT threaded malleable iron pipe systems in gas, air, and low-pressure steam applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter in accordance with applicable local codes, the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), or the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the gas or fluid supply before disassembling any threaded connections. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium before making up the joint. Do not overtighten malleable iron fittings, as the material can crack under excessive torque.
