The BMI 35327 is a black malleable iron 90-degree elbow fitting used to change pipe direction in threaded plumbing and gas piping systems. Constructed from malleable iron with a black finish, this elbow connects a 1-inch pipe to a 3/4-inch pipe, making it a reducing elbow suited for transitions between pipe sizes. Malleable iron fittings are a standard choice in commercial and industrial piping where strength and heat resistance matter. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in both new construction and retrofit applications where a square turn is required in the run.
This fitting is used in residential and commercial plumbing, black iron gas piping, and industrial fluid systems. The reducing configuration — 1 inch on one end, 3/4 inch on the other — allows for size transitions at a directional change without requiring a separate reducing coupling. It is commonly found in natural gas distribution lines, compressed air systems, and water supply piping where threaded black iron is specified. Both ends accept standard NPT threads.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard NPT threaded black iron pipe systems in plumbing, gas, and industrial piping applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, the IPC, and IFGC where gas service is involved. Shut off the gas or water supply and relieve system pressure before making any connections. Apply an approved pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads before assembly and tighten to a snug, leak-free fit. Do not overtighten malleable iron fittings, as this can crack the casting.
