The BMI 35133 is a black malleable iron reducing bushing designed to connect pipes of different diameters in threaded piping systems. It reduces a 1-1/4-inch female thread to a 3/4-inch male thread, allowing technicians to transition between pipe sizes within a run. Malleable iron construction provides the durability and impact resistance required in mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC piping applications. The black finish is standard for gas and general-purpose piping. This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians as part of threaded pipe assemblies in both new construction and retrofit work.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial piping systems where a threaded reducer fitting is needed to step down pipe size. Common applications include gas supply lines, water distribution, and HVAC hydronic or steam piping. The hex-style bushing design allows installation with standard pipe wrenches or hex wrenches, keeping the installation compact and flush within the fitting assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install fitting for standard NPT threaded piping systems requiring a 1-1/4-inch to 3/4-inch reduction in malleable iron.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local codes and the IFGC or IPC as required by application. Shut off and depressurize the piping system before disassembly or fitting installation. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before makeup. Do not over-torque threaded fittings, as this can crack the fitting body or damage mating threads.
