The BMI 35128 is a black malleable iron pipe bushing designed to reduce a 1-inch female threaded fitting down to a 1/2-inch male threaded connection. Malleable iron construction provides the durability and thread integrity required for gas, air, and general-purpose piping systems. The black finish is standard for gas line applications and indicates an ungalvanized iron fitting. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this bushing during rough-in and retrofit work where reducing fittings are needed to transition between pipe sizes within a threaded system.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial piping installations including natural gas supply lines, compressed air distribution, and water systems where malleable iron fittings are specified. It threads directly into a 1-inch female NPT fitting and accepts a 1/2-inch male NPT connection, making it a common reducing fitting in gas appliance hookups and distribution manifolds.
Designed as a standard NPT reducing bushing for use in malleable iron threaded piping systems. Fits any 1-inch female NPT fitting accepting a hex bushing with a 1/2-inch male NPT outlet.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters in accordance with applicable local codes and IFGC requirements for gas piping. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium before threading the bushing into place. Shut off the gas or fluid supply and depressurize the line before making any connections. Do not overtighten threaded fittings, as malleable iron threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
