The BMI 35027 is a black malleable iron reducer fitting designed to connect a 1-inch pipe to a 3/4-inch pipe in threaded piping systems. This bushing-style reducer allows tradespeople to step down pipe diameter without adding unnecessary length to the assembly. Malleable iron construction provides the durability and thread integrity required for gas, air, and compatible fluid distribution systems. At 0.175 pounds, it is a compact fitting suited for tight spaces in both new construction and retrofit applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers of this component.
This reducer is used in residential and light commercial piping installations where a threaded line must transition from 1-inch to 3/4-inch nominal pipe size. Common applications include natural gas supply lines, compressed air distribution, and general-purpose black iron piping systems. The black finish is standard for gas piping applications and distinguishes this fitting from galvanized fittings used in water service.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard fitting for threaded black iron piping systems using 1-inch to 3/4-inch NPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable local codes and IFGC requirements for gas piping systems. Shut off the gas supply or depressurize the line before making any threaded connections. Apply thread sealant rated for the intended service medium before assembly. Do not over-tighten threaded fittings, as malleable iron threads can be damaged by excessive torque.
