The BK 521-984HC is a black malleable iron hexagon bushing used to reduce a 2-inch male pipe thread to a 3/4-inch female pipe thread. It is a standard threaded fitting used in gas piping, steam, and water distribution systems where a concentric pipe size reduction is needed at a threaded connection point. The hex body allows for wrench engagement during installation. Each fitting carries the Mueller logo cast into the body and is individually flag tagged. This fitting is sold individually and is intended for installation by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians working on threaded black iron piping systems.
This bushing is suited for residential and commercial applications involving black iron piping, including gas supply lines, steam heating systems, and general industrial piping where a threaded reduction from 2-inch to 3/4-inch is required. The black iron construction makes it appropriate for dry gas service and non-potable water applications. It is not rated for potable water use without confirming applicable local codes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for black iron threaded piping systems requiring a 2-inch male to 3/4-inch female concentric reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber, pipefitter, or HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local codes and IFGC or IPC requirements. Shut off gas or water supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium before threading the fitting into the female connection. Do not overtighten; use wrench engagement on the hex body only.
