The BK 521-942BG is a black malleable iron hex bushing designed to reduce a 3/4 inch male NPT pipe thread down to a 3/8 inch female NPT thread. This type of reducing bushing is a standard component in black iron gas piping systems and is used by licensed plumbers, gas fitters, and HVAC technicians when transitioning between pipe sizes in a run. Weighing 0.144 pounds, the fitting is compact and individually flag tagged for easy identification at the job site. The Mueller logo is cast directly into the body of each fitting, and every unit is 100 percent inspected and quality tested before leaving the factory.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial gas distribution piping, as well as other black iron pipe applications where a threaded reduction from 3/4 inch to 3/8 inch is required. It is sold individually and is appropriate for use in new construction and retrofit installations where pipe size transitions are needed within a supply line, manifold, or appliance connection assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard black iron NPT pipe systems requiring a 3/4 inch to 3/8 inch threaded reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter in accordance with applicable local codes and IFGC requirements. Shut off the gas supply and verify zero pressure at the work point before threading the bushing into the fitting or appliance connection. Apply an approved pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for gas service to the male threads before assembly. Hand-tighten first, then use a pipe wrench to bring the fitting to proper engagement without over-stressing the threads.
