The BK 521-932BG is a black malleable iron hex bushing used to reduce pipe thread sizes in gas, air, and general plumbing systems. It features a 1/2 inch male NPT thread on the larger end and a 3/8 inch female NPT thread on the smaller end, allowing a larger-diameter pipe or fitting to connect to a smaller downstream component. Weighing 0.067 pounds, this compact fitting is individually flag tagged for identification. The Mueller logo is cast into the body. Each fitting is 100 percent inspected and quality tested before shipment.
This hex bushing is suited for residential and light commercial piping applications including gas distribution lines, compressed air systems, and water supply rough-in work. The hexagonal body profile allows a wrench to apply proper torque during installation. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians commonly use bushings like this when transitioning between pipe sizes at valves, regulators, meters, or appliance connections.
Designed as an OEM-style malleable iron pipe fitting for use in standard NPT threaded piping systems where a 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch thread reduction is required.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes and IFGC or IPC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the line before making or breaking any threaded connection. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium before threading the bushing into the female fitting. Do not over-tighten; use a pipe wrench on the hex body only.
