The BK 521-808BG is a 2-inch malleable black iron pipe plug used to close off the end of a threaded pipe or fitting in plumbing, HVAC, gas, and industrial piping systems. Built from malleable iron meeting ANSI/ASTM A-197 material standards, it is flag tagged individually for job-site traceability. Threads conform to ANSI B1.20.1 for reliable engagement with standard NPT fittings. The Mueller logo is cast directly into the body. Each unit is 100% inspected and quality tested before leaving the facility. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors are the primary installers of this fitting type.
The 521-808BG is suited for residential and light commercial piping applications where a threaded plug is needed to terminate or cap a 2-inch iron pipe line. Common scenarios include capping unused branch outlets on gas headers, hydronic heating supply and return lines, and water distribution manifolds. The black iron finish makes it appropriate for gas service and steam piping where galvanized fittings are not permitted. This fitting is sold individually.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard fitting for 2-inch NPT threaded iron pipe systems in plumbing, gas, hydronic, and mechanical piping installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, IPC, or IFGC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system completely before installing or removing any threaded plug. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before tightening. Do not over-torque malleable iron fittings, as the material is strong but not as impact-resistant as ductile iron or steel.
