The BK 521-807BG is a 1-1/2 inch malleable black iron pipe plug designed to seal threaded pipe ends in plumbing, HVAC, gas, and industrial piping systems. Cast from malleable iron with a black finish, this plug meets ANSI/ASTM A-197 material standards and ANSI/ASME B16.14 and B16.39 dimensional standards. Threads conform to ANSI B1.20.1 for consistent fit with standard NPT fittings. Each unit is individually flag tagged and 100 percent inspected and quality tested before leaving the factory. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians use this plug to cap off unused branch openings, pressure-test piping runs, or permanently close dead-end lines.
This pipe plug is suited for residential and light commercial applications involving black iron or steel pipe assemblies. It is commonly installed in gas distribution piping, steam systems, hydronic heating systems, and general plumbing distribution lines where a secure, pressure-rated threaded closure is needed. At 0.434 pounds, it is a single-piece, solid-body fitting sold individually.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for 1-1/2 inch NPT threaded black iron or steel pipe systems in plumbing, HVAC, and gas piping applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable local codes, IFGC requirements for gas piping, or IPC guidelines for plumbing systems. Shut off and depressurize the line before installation. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service before threading the plug into the fitting. Do not overtighten, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive torque.
