The BK 496-238 is a braided stainless steel water heater connector designed for residential, commercial, and industrial water supply connections. The core is virgin PVC reinforced with polyester yarn braiding, then over-braided with 304 stainless steel for strength and durability. Chrome-plated brass hex nuts and washers provide a dependable hand-tight seal. The connector measures 24 inches in length with 3/4 inch MIP male threads on one end and 3/4 inch FIP female threads on the other. It is rated for a maximum temperature of 180 degrees F and a maximum working pressure of 125 psi. Licensed plumbers and plumbing contractors install this fitting during water heater replacement or new installation service.
This connector is suited for water heater hookups in a wide range of settings, including residential homes, light commercial buildings, and industrial facilities. The 3/4 inch MIP x FIP configuration matches the standard inlet and outlet connections found on most tank-style water heaters. The 24 inch flexible length provides enough slack to accommodate minor misalignment between the heater and supply stub-outs, simplifying installation in tight utility closets, mechanical rooms, and alcove installations.
Approved for residential, commercial, and industrial water supply connections to water heaters and plumbing fixtures requiring a 3/4 inch MIP x 3/4 inch FIP braided stainless steel connector.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the IPC. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before removing the existing connector or making new connections. Hand-tighten the brass hex nuts fully before applying a final quarter-turn with a wrench — do not overtighten, as this can damage the threads or seat. Inspect the connection for leaks after restoring water pressure.
