The BK 496-237 is a braided stainless steel water heater connector designed for water supply connections to water heaters and plumbing fixtures. The core is virgin PVC reinforced with polyester yarn braiding, over-braided with Type 304 stainless steel for strength and durability. Chrome-plated brass nuts and washers provide a dependable hand-tight seal. End connections are 3/4 inch MIP on one end and 3/4 inch FIP on the other, with an overall length of 18 inches. Rated to 125 psi maximum working pressure and a maximum temperature of 180 degrees F, this connector is suited for residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing installations.
The 496-237 is used to connect water heaters to supply lines in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The flexible braided design accommodates minor misalignments between the heater inlet and the supply stub-out, making it a standard connector for both new installations and replacements. Licensed plumbers and water heater installation technicians are the typical installers. Its IAPMO listing confirms it meets recognized plumbing codes for water supply connections.
Approved for residential, commercial, and industrial water supply connections to water heaters and plumbing fixtures with 3/4 inch male and female iron pipe threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IAPMO standards. Shut off the water supply and drain pressure from the line before removing the existing connector or making new connections. Hand-tighten the brass hex nuts and apply a final snug turn with a wrench — do not overtighten, as this can damage the brass fittings or seat. Inspect for leaks at both connections after restoring water pressure.
