The BK 496-231 is a braided stainless steel water heater connector designed for water supply connections to water heaters and plumbing fixtures in residential, commercial, and industrial installations. The core is virgin PVC reinforced with polyester yarn braiding, then over-braided with Type 304 stainless steel for strength and long-term durability. Chrome-plated brass hex nuts and washers provide a dependable hand-tight seal. The connector is rated for a maximum temperature of 180 degrees F and a maximum working pressure of 125 psi, making it suitable for standard domestic hot water systems.
This connector is used wherever a flexible supply line is needed between a water heater and the building supply piping. The 3/4 inch FIP female iron pipe inlet connects to threaded supply pipe or a shutoff valve, while the 3/4 inch inside diameter hose connection attaches to the water heater fitting. The 18 inch length provides enough flexibility to accommodate minor misalignment during installation. Suitable for both new construction and replacement service in residential, commercial, and light industrial water heating applications.
Approved for residential, commercial, and industrial water supply connections to water heaters and plumbing fixtures with 3/4 inch FIP and 3/4 inch ID hose fittings.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the cold water supply and drain pressure from the system before disconnecting existing supply lines. Hand-tighten the brass hex nuts fully, then snug with a wrench — do not overtighten, as this can crack the brass nut or damage the washer seat. Inspect for leaks at both connections after restoring water pressure.
