The BK 496-142 is a braided stainless steel toilet supply connector designed for water supply connections between shutoff valves and toilet fill valves. It measures 16 inches in length with a 1/2 inch female iron pipe (FIP) connection on one end and a 7/8 inch ballcock (BC) connection on the other. The core is virgin PVC reinforced with polyester yarn braiding, then over-braided with 304 stainless steel for tensile strength and corrosion resistance. Chrome-plated brass hex connector nuts and washers provide a dependable hand-tight seal. Rated to 125 psi maximum working pressure and 180 degrees F maximum temperature.
This connector is approved for residential, commercial, and industrial water supply applications. It is used in toilet rough-in installations and fixture replacements where a flexible, durable supply line is needed between a stop valve and the toilet tank. Licensed plumbers and experienced service technicians install this type of connector during new construction, remodels, or routine toilet replacements. The IAPMO listing makes it suitable for use in jurisdictions that require listed and approved plumbing materials.
Designed as a flexible water supply line for toilet connections with a 1/2 inch FIP inlet and a 7/8 inch ballcock outlet, suitable for standard residential and commercial toilet installations requiring a 16 inch supply line.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or qualified service technician in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Shut off the water supply at the stop valve and flush the toilet to relieve pressure before disconnecting the existing supply line. Hand-tighten the connector nuts fully before applying a final snug turn with a wrench — do not overtighten brass fittings, as this can crack the nut or distort the washer seal. Inspect for leaks at both connections after restoring water supply.
