The BK 407-060 is a Schedule 80 PVC nipple designed for the transport of water and other liquids in pressurized piping systems. Sized at 1-1/2 inches by 6 inches, it carries IPS (iron pipe size) dimensions and is threaded to NPT (National Pipe Thread) standards on both ends. The heavier Schedule 80 wall thickness gives it greater pressure tolerance compared to Schedule 40, making it a reliable choice in demanding plumbing and industrial installations. Pipe thread compound or sealing tape must be applied to the threaded ends before installation to ensure a leak-free connection. This nipple meets ASTM D1785 specifications.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial plumbing, irrigation, industrial fluid handling, and anywhere a short close-to-close or hex nipple run is needed in a PVC piping system. It is commonly installed in supply lines, pump connections, and manifold assemblies where corrosion resistance and chemical compatibility are priorities over metal pipe. Licensed plumbers and pipe fitters are the typical installers, though knowledgeable tradespeople working within local codes also use this fitting regularly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 1-1/2 inch NPT threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC and local plumbing codes. Shut off water supply and relieve system pressure before removing any existing fitting. Apply pipe thread sealant compound or PTFE tape to the threaded portion before threading into the mating fitting. Hand-tighten first, then snug with a pipe wrench — avoid overtightening, which can crack PVC threads.
