The BK 406-001 is a close-length Schedule 80 PVC nipple designed for the transport of water and other compatible liquids in pressurized piping systems. Sized at 1-1/4 inches in iron pipe size (IPS), it is threaded to NPT (National Pipe Thread) standards on both ends, allowing direct connection to standard threaded fittings, valves, and pipe. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure resistance compared to Schedule 40, making this nipple suitable for demanding service conditions. Pipe thread compound or sealing tape must be applied to the threaded portion before assembly to ensure a leak-free joint. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This nipple is well suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation, chemical handling, and industrial piping applications where a short threaded connector is needed between fittings. Its PVC construction makes it appropriate for cold-water service and a range of non-petroleum liquid transport tasks. The close-length designation means the nipple has no unthreaded center section, keeping overall installed length to a minimum in tight spaces or compact manifold assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting compatible with 1-1/4 inch NPT threaded Schedule 80 PVC piping systems. Meets ASTM D1785 specifications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Always depressurize and drain the line before removing or installing threaded nipples. Apply pipe thread compound or PTFE sealing tape to the male threads before assembly — do not over-tighten PVC fittings, as excessive torque can crack the fitting body. PVC nipples are not rated for high-temperature or petroleum-based fluid service; verify fluid and temperature compatibility before installation.
