The BK 404-050 is a Schedule 80 PVC nipple designed for the transport of water and other compatible liquids in pressurized piping systems. Measuring 3/4 inch in diameter and 5 inches in length, this nipple is machined to IPS (iron pipe size) standards and threaded to NPT (National Pipe Thread) specifications. It meets ASTM D1785 requirements for rigid PVC pressure-rated pipe fittings. The heavier wall thickness of Schedule 80 construction provides added strength over Schedule 40, making it suitable for more demanding service conditions. Plumbers and pipefitters rely on this fitting for both above-ground and in-wall liquid transport applications.
This PVC nipple is well suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where NPT-threaded connections are required. Common applications include water supply lines, irrigation systems, industrial fluid handling, and process piping where corrosion resistance and pressure capability are priorities. Pipe thread compound or sealing tape must be applied to the threaded portion of the nipple before assembly to ensure a leak-free joint. The NPT taper thread pattern provides a secure mechanical connection with standard-threaded fittings, valves, and equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-service fitting for NPT-threaded Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 3/4 inch nominal pipe size components.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Always apply pipe thread compound or PTFE sealing tape to the threaded portion before making up the joint. Hand-tighten first, then use a strap wrench to avoid over-torquing PVC threads, which can crack the fitting. Depressurize and drain the affected system section before removing or replacing any threaded nipple.
