The BK 404-030 is a Schedule 80 PVC threaded nipple designed for the transport of water and other liquids in pressurized piping systems. Measuring 3/4 inch in diameter by 3 inches in length, it is manufactured to IPS (iron pipe size) dimensions and threaded to NPT (National Pipe Thread) standards. The heavier wall thickness of Schedule 80 provides greater pressure resistance compared to Schedule 40, making it well suited for demanding plumbing and industrial fluid-handling applications. This nipple meets ASTM D1785 specifications. Thread sealant compound or PTFE tape should be applied to the threaded portion prior to installation.
This nipple is used in a wide range of residential, commercial, and light industrial plumbing applications wherever a short threaded PVC connection is required. It is appropriate for cold and low-temperature water lines, chemical distribution systems, and irrigation assemblies that call for Schedule 80 fittings. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers, though experienced trades professionals working with PVC piping systems will find this a standard off-the-shelf component.
Designed as a standard IPS, NPT-threaded Schedule 80 PVC nipple for use with compatible Schedule 80 PVC fittings, valves, and pipe in 3/4 inch systems meeting ASTM D1785 requirements.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Always depressurize and drain the system before removing or installing threaded pipe components. Apply thread sealant compound or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly to ensure a leak-free joint. Avoid over-tightening PVC threaded connections, as excess torque can crack the fitting or nipple body.
