The BK 404-001 is a Schedule 80 PVC close nipple sized at 3/4 inch, designed for the transport of water and other compatible liquids in pressurized piping systems. The close (CL) configuration means the nipple has no unthreaded center section, making it ideal for tight-clearance connections between fittings. Threads are machined to IPS (iron pipe size) dimensions and conform to NPT (National Pipe Thread) standards. This nipple meets ASTM D1785 specifications, the governing standard for Schedule 80 rigid PVC pressure-rated pipe and fittings. Plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in both new construction and repair work where a compact, corrosion-resistant threaded connection is required.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation, and fluid-handling systems where Schedule 80 PVC is specified for added wall thickness and pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40. Pipe thread compound or PTFE sealing tape must be applied to the threaded portion before assembly to ensure a leak-free joint. Its NPT threading allows direct connection to standard NPT fittings, valves, and threaded pipe across a wide range of plumbing and industrial applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 3/4 inch NPT threaded connections in residential and commercial plumbing and fluid-handling installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Always apply pipe thread compound or PTFE sealing tape to the male threads before making up the joint — do not over-tighten, as PVC threads can crack under excessive torque. Depressurize and drain the system completely before replacing or adding any threaded fitting. Hand-tighten first, then use strap wrenches rather than pipe wrenches to avoid crushing the PVC body.
