The BK 403-120 is a Schedule 80 PVC nipple designed for transport of water and other liquids in pressure-rated piping systems. Sized at 1/2 inch by 12 inches, this nipple is manufactured to IPS (iron pipe size) dimensions and threaded to NPT (National Pipe Thread) standards, ensuring compatibility with standard threaded fittings and valves. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure resistance compared to Schedule 40, making it a reliable choice for demanding service conditions. Plumbers and pipefitters install these nipples in both residential and light commercial systems. It meets ASTM D1785 specifications for PVC plastic pipe.
This nipple is suited for a wide range of piping applications including water supply, irrigation, chemical transfer lines where PVC is appropriate, and general fluid transport. The 1/2 inch diameter and 12 inch length make it a standard close-to-long nipple used in manifolds, equipment connections, and branch line assemblies. Its threaded ends allow tool-free hand-starting before wrench tightening, and it accepts pipe thread compound or PTFE sealing tape on the threaded portion to ensure a leak-free joint.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard installation nipple compatible with 1/2 inch NPT threaded fittings, valves, and couplings in Schedule 80 PVC piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before making any threaded connections. Apply pipe thread compound or PTFE sealing tape to the male threads before assembly and tighten with a pipe wrench to a snug, leak-free fit. Do not over-tighten PVC threaded fittings, as excessive torque can crack the fitting or nipple body.
