The BK 403-080 is a Schedule 80 PVC threaded nipple designed for the transport of water and a wide range of compatible liquids in pressurized piping systems. Measuring 1/2 inch in diameter and 8 inches in length, this nipple is manufactured to IPS (iron pipe size) dimensions and threaded to NPT (National Pipe Thread) standards. It meets ASTM D1785 specifications for rigid PVC pressure-rated pipe fittings. Plumbers and pipefitters use Schedule 80 nipples where greater wall thickness and higher pressure tolerance are required compared to Schedule 40 fittings. Pipe thread compound or sealing tape must be applied to the threaded portion before installation.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation, and fluid-handling applications. Its Schedule 80 rating makes it appropriate for higher-pressure service lines and industrial fluid transport where added wall thickness is specified. The NPT threading allows direct connection to standard IPS-compatible valves, couplings, and fittings throughout a piping system. Installers working in corrosive or chemical-exposure environments often select Schedule 80 PVC over metal alternatives due to its resistance to rust and many common chemicals.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting compatible with 1/2 inch NPT IPS-threaded plumbing systems meeting ASTM D1785 requirements for Schedule 80 PVC pipe applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC (International Plumbing Code) requirements. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply pipe thread compound or PTFE sealing tape to all male threads before assembly to ensure a leak-free seal. Do not overtighten PVC threaded fittings, as the material can crack under excessive torque.
