The BK 164-635HC is a 1-inch Schedule 80 PVC solvent weld union designed for joining and disconnecting sections of PVC piping without cutting. Built from heavy-duty white Schedule 80 PVC, this union uses an EPDM O-ring seal to maintain a leak-free connection under pressure. It is rated at 150 psi at 73 degrees F and carries NSF approval for potable water applications. The slip x slip configuration accepts standard solvent-cement connections on both ends. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in water distribution, irrigation, filtration, and chemical handling systems where periodic disassembly is required.
This union is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where a break-apart joint is needed for service access or equipment isolation. Solvent ends comply with ASTM D2466, making this fitting compatible with both Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 pipe. Common applications include pump connections, filter housings, and inline valve assemblies where the line must be opened for maintenance without cutting pipe.
Compatible with 1-inch Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC pipe using standard solvent-cement joining methods per ASTM D2466.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off water supply and depressurize the line fully before disassembling or installing the union. Use PVC primer and solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 applications; allow full cure time before restoring pressure. Hand-tighten the union nut only — do not use pipe wrenches or pliers on the union ring, as over-torquing can crack the PVC body.
