The BK 164-633HC is a 1/2 inch Schedule 80 PVC solvent weld union designed for use in pressure-rated piping systems. Built from heavy-duty white Schedule 80 PVC, this union features an EPDM O-ring seal that allows for easier disassembly and reassembly of piping runs without cutting. It is rated at 150 psi at 73 degrees F, making it suitable for a range of cold-water and chemical-handling applications. The slip x slip configuration accepts solvent cement on both ends and complies with ASTM D2466. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in both residential and light commercial systems.
This union is appropriate for 1/2 inch residential and commercial piping installations where a break-apart connection is needed for servicing valves, equipment, or piping sections. It is compatible with both Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 pipe, which adds flexibility when working on mixed-schedule systems. The NSF listing supports use in potable water applications. Its white Schedule 80 PVC construction also suits chemical and industrial fluid handling where moderate pressure ratings are required.
Compatible with both Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC pipe in 1/2 inch nominal size. Suitable for solvent cement installation per standard PVC piping practice.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber following local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before cutting into any existing line. Use a PVC primer and appropriate solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 applications, and allow full cure time before pressurizing the system. The union nut should be hand-tightened and then snugged with strap or tongue-and-groove pliers — do not use pipe wrenches directly on the PVC body.
