The BK 164-608 is a 2-inch Schedule 80 PVC union designed for solvent-weld connections in pressurized piping systems. Built from heavy-duty gray PVC, it provides a removable, pressure-rated joint that allows sections of pipe to be disconnected without cutting. The union solvent welds to Schedule 40 outside-diameter pipe and meets ASTM D2466 specifications. It is well suited for plumbing, irrigation, pool, and industrial fluid-handling applications where periodic disassembly of a piping run is required. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers.
This union fits 2-inch nominal pipe and is compatible with standard Schedule 40 outside-diameter PVC pipe via solvent cement. The Schedule 80 body wall thickness provides added strength over standard Schedule 40 fittings, making it appropriate for applications with higher mechanical stress or where a more robust fitting is specified. Common install environments include commercial plumbing distribution, pool and spa equipment pads, chemical feed lines, and irrigation manifolds where gray PVC is an acceptable material choice.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 2-inch nominal Schedule 40 outside-diameter PVC pipe using solvent cement in residential and commercial piping systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before cutting into any existing piping run. Use only PVC solvent cement and primer rated for Schedule 80 fittings, and observe manufacturer cure times before pressurizing. Do not exceed the pressure rating of the fitting or expose it to temperatures outside the rated range for PVC.
