The BK 164-605 is a 1-inch Schedule 80 PVC union designed for solvent-weld connections in pressurized piping systems. Built from heavy-duty gray PVC, it provides a higher wall thickness and greater pressure rating than standard Schedule 40 fittings. The union allows technicians to disconnect and reconnect piping runs without cutting into the line, making it a practical choice for equipment isolation and serviceability. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in both new construction and retrofit applications where a removable joint is required.
This union is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, pool and spa equipment plumbing, and irrigation or chemical feed lines where PVC is the approved material. It solvent welds to Schedule 40 outside-diameter pipe, making it compatible with the most common PVC pipe found in the field. The gray color and Schedule 80 rating make it a frequent choice in exposed or high-pressure service runs where additional wall strength is specified.
Designed for solvent-weld installation onto 1-inch Schedule 40 outside-diameter PVC pipe. Suitable for use in standard PVC pressure piping systems where Schedule 80 fittings are specified.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters following IPC guidelines and local code requirements. Depressurize and drain the affected piping section completely before cutting in or disassembling the union. Use a PVC primer and solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 fittings, and allow full cure time before returning the line to service. Do not apply heat to assemble or disassemble PVC unions.
