The BK 164-603 is a Schedule 80 PVC union designed for 1/2 inch solvent-weld pipe connections in pressurized fluid systems. Built from heavy-duty gray PVC, this union allows technicians to disconnect and reconnect pipe runs without cutting. It solvent welds to Schedule 40 outside-diameter pipe and meets ASTM D2466 specifications. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in irrigation, chemical distribution, and industrial plumbing applications where a removable, leak-tight joint is required at service points or equipment connections.
This union is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and irrigation systems where Schedule 80 fittings are specified for added wall thickness and pressure handling. It is a practical choice at pump connections, filter housings, and valve stations where periodic service access is needed. The solvent-weld ends keep the joint permanent on the pipe stubs while the union body allows the line to be broken cleanly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install fitting for 1/2 inch Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using solvent-weld connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or experienced pipefitters familiar with solvent-weld PVC technique. Shut off flow and depressurize the line before cutting in or servicing the union. Use a PVC primer and solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 fittings, and follow the cement manufacturer's cure time before returning the system to pressure. Work in a ventilated area and reference applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements for fitting pressure ratings and solvent-cement use.
