The BK 164-138HC is a 2-inch Female Iron Pipe (FIP) threaded union manufactured from Schedule 80 PVC. It is designed to join and disconnect sections of PVC piping in pressurized water systems without cutting the line. The union seals with an EPDM O-ring and is rated at 150 psi at 73 degrees F, with a maximum service temperature of 150 degrees F. The heavy-duty white Schedule 80 PVC body offers greater wall thickness and pressure resistance compared to Schedule 40 fittings. Licensed plumbers and pipe fitters install this fitting in residential and commercial applications where periodic system disassembly is required.
This union is suited for use in potable water distribution, irrigation, pool and spa plumbing, and general industrial piping where PVC is an appropriate material. The FIP x FIP threaded ends comply with ANSI B1.20.1 thread standards. Because the body is Schedule 80 PVC, it is compatible with both Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 pipe, giving installers flexibility when working with mixed piping systems. It is commonly installed at equipment connections such as pumps, filters, and valves where the line may need to be broken for service or equipment removal.
Compatible with both Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC pipe in 2-inch nominal size. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for threaded PVC piping systems where a disconnectable joint is required.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Depressurize and drain the system completely before removing or installing the union. Use appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for PVC fittings on the threaded ends and avoid over-tightening, which can crack PVC fittings. Do not exceed the rated temperature or pressure limits of the fitting.
