The BK 164-137HC is a 1-1/2 inch FIP x FIP Schedule 80 threaded PVC union designed for use in pressurized piping systems where a removable, leak-tight joint is required. Built from heavy-duty white Schedule 80 PVC, this union is rated at 150 psi at 73 degrees F and is rated for a maximum operating temperature of 150 degrees F. An EPDM O-ring provides the primary seal, eliminating the need for thread sealant at the union joint face. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in chemical, irrigation, industrial, and water treatment applications where plastic piping is specified.
This union is suitable for both residential and light commercial plumbing and process piping installations. It accepts standard FIP threaded connections on both ends, making it compatible with Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 pipe. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides additional strength and impact resistance compared to Schedule 40 fittings, making it a common choice in exposed or higher-pressure runs where PVC is an approved material.
Compatible with 1-1/2 inch Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC pipe. Threaded ends conform to ANSI B1.20.1 standard taper pipe thread dimensions.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before making or breaking any union connection. Use thread sealant or PTFE tape on the male iron pipe threads entering the union body halves, but do not apply sealant to the O-ring union face. Do not exceed the rated pressure or temperature limits of this fitting.
