The BK 160-007 is a long-pattern compression galvanized coupling designed for joining pipe sections without threading or soldering. The hydroformed steel body provides structural integrity, while a double-tapered rubber gasket creates two independent seals at each end for reliable leak resistance. A metal friction ring locks the assembly in place under load. Rated for service up to 125 psi at 210 degrees F, this coupling handles typical domestic and light commercial plumbing pressures. It is sized to fit the outside diameter of 1-1/2 inch Schedule 40 iron pipe or Schedule 40 PVC, making it a practical bridging solution across pipe materials.
This coupling is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing repair and retrofit work where a fast, no-flame connection is required. The 5 inch body length accommodates standard repair cuts and gap bridging in supply or drain applications. Plumbers use this fitting when transitioning between iron and PVC pipe runs or when making emergency field repairs where threading or gluing is not practical. The galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance in exposed or semi-exposed installations.
Sized to fit the outside diameter of 1-1/2 inch Schedule 40 iron pipe or Schedule 40 PVC pipe. Compatible across dissimilar pipe materials where outside diameters match Schedule 40 standards.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipe fitters. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before cutting or removing any pipe section. Clean pipe ends of burrs, scale, and debris before seating the gasket to ensure a proper seal. Tighten bolts evenly and in sequence per standard compression fitting practice; do not overtighten, as this can distort the rubber gasket and compromise the seal.
