The BEST WELDS 900-7018-532x50-vp is an E7018 low-hydrogen mild steel electrode designed for shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) on carbon steel base metals. The electrode measures 5/32 inches in diameter and 14 inches in length, providing consistent arc starting and stable arc characteristics throughout the weld pass. Packaged in a 50-pound vacuum pack (vend pack) canister, these rods are protected from moisture exposure during storage and transport. Welders and fabricators working on structural, pipe, and general-purpose carbon steel applications will find this electrode suited to a wide range of positions and joint configurations common in field and shop environments.
This electrode is intended for use on mild and low-alloy carbon steel in residential, commercial, and light industrial fabrication and repair. E7018 classification rods are widely specified for structural welding where low-hydrogen deposit requirements apply. Installation and use should be performed by a qualified welder following applicable AWS and workplace safety standards. Once the vacuum pack is opened, store unused electrodes in a rod oven at the temperature recommended by the manufacturer to prevent moisture absorption, which can cause hydrogen-induced cracking in the weld deposit. Inspect electrodes for flux damage or moisture contamination before use and discard any that show cracking or coating loss. Proper personal protective equipment including a certified welding helmet, gloves, and flame-resistant clothing is required during all SMAW operations.
