The BENJAMIN MOORE SXA110099-04 is a waterborne urethane acrylic bonding primer engineered to adhere strongly to hard, glossy, and other difficult-to-coat surfaces. It lays down a smooth, even film that significantly improves topcoat appearance and performance. The low-VOC, low-odor waterborne formula is rated for application in temperatures as low as 35 degrees F, making it viable in cooler job-site conditions. Coverage runs approximately 400 square feet per gallon on smooth surfaces. Painting contractors, surface prep specialists, and skilled trade painters install this primer on both interior and exterior projects where conventional primers fail to achieve adequate adhesion.
This primer is designed for challenging substrates including PVC, vinyl, fiberglass, glazed block, ceramic tile, pre-coated siding, and galvanized metals. It performs in both interior and exterior environments and is compatible with a wide range of topcoats including latex, alkyd, epoxy, urethane, and lacquer finishes. Its resistance to blistering, cracking, and wrinkling under topcoat layers makes it a reliable choice wherever moisture exposure is a concern. It is sold in a 1-quart container, suitable for targeted prep work and smaller surface areas.
Designed for use over hard, glossy paints and difficult substrates such as PVC, vinyl, fiberglass, glazed block, tile, pre-coated siding, and galvanized metals. Accepts latex, alkyd, epoxy, urethane, and lacquer topcoats in both interior and exterior applications.
Surface preparation is critical before applying this primer — clean all surfaces thoroughly to remove dirt, grease, chalk, and loose material. Apply with brush, roller, or spray equipment appropriate for waterborne coatings. Allow the primer to fully cure before applying topcoat, particularly in low-temperature conditions. Ensure adequate ventilation during application even though VOC levels are low.
