The BELL OUTDOOR 5148-0 is a 2-gang weatherproof device box cover designed to protect duplex receptacle outlets in outdoor installations. Built from rugged die-cast aluminum with a powder-coated gray finish, it delivers durable weather resistance and scratch resistance in exposed environments. The cover features double self-closing lids that snap shut over each receptacle opening when not in use, maintaining NEMA 3R weatherproof protection. It mounts in a horizontal device position and includes a gasket and all necessary hardware. Licensed electricians install this cover as part of outdoor branch-circuit receptacle assemblies in residential and light commercial applications.
This cover is designed for use on outdoor receptacles where NEMA 3R-rated protection is required. Its two-gang configuration accommodates two duplex receptacles side by side. The flip-snap self-closing lid design keeps each opening sealed against rain, moisture, and debris when receptacles are not actively in use. Typical installations include exterior walls, decks, patios, garages, and other locations where NEC Article 406 requires weatherproof covers for outdoor receptacles. The included gasket seals the cover face to the box, and multi-lingual instructions are included in each package.
Designed for use on outdoor duplex receptacles in a 2-gang device box configuration. Compatible with standard 2-gang outdoor box installations requiring NEMA 3R-rated weatherproof cover protection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the NEC and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit at the breaker panel before beginning any work on the receptacle or box. Ensure the gasket is properly seated between the cover and the box face to maintain the NEMA 3R weatherproof rating. Do not overtighten mounting screws, as this can distort the gasket and compromise the weather seal.
