The BELDEN INC. FI2M048P1 is an indoor OM2 multimode fiber optic cable rated for plenum (OFNP) installations. It houses 48 individual fibers in a construction designed for high-density runs inside commercial and institutional buildings. The OFNP plenum rating meets the flame and smoke requirements for air-handling spaces, making it the correct choice where building codes mandate plenum-rated cabling. Licensed low-voltage and data cabling contractors install this type of cable during structured cabling buildouts, equipment room installations, and backbone runs between telecom closets.
This cable is suited for indoor horizontal and backbone fiber runs in commercial office buildings, data centers, healthcare facilities, schools, and similar environments. Its 48-fiber count supports high-density patching and aggregation points where multiple runs must be consolidated into a single pathway. The OM2 multimode specification supports standard short-reach laser and LED-based transceivers used in Ethernet, storage, and AV distribution systems.
Designed as an OEM-style indoor plenum fiber optic cable for use with standard OM2 multimode patch panels, enclosures, and fiber termination hardware in commercial structured cabling systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage or datacom cabling contractor following TIA-568 structured cabling standards and applicable local fire codes. De-energize and lock out any active equipment in the cable pathway before pulling. Observe the minimum bend radius and maximum pull tension specified for the cable during installation to avoid fiber damage. Plenum-rated cable is required by code in air-handling spaces and must not be substituted with riser or general-use rated cable in those locations.
