The BELDEN INC. FI1M048P1 is an OM1 multimode fiber optic cable rated for indoor plenum installations. Built with 48 fibers, it is designed for structured cabling systems in commercial and institutional buildings where air-handling spaces require low-smoke, flame-retardant cable jackets. The OFNP (Optical Fiber Nonconductive Plenum) rating meets the fire and smoke requirements for plenum airspace routing. Licensed low-voltage contractors and data/telecom cabling technicians are the primary installers of this cable.
This cable is suited for horizontal and backbone runs inside commercial buildings, data centers, and campus environments where plenum-rated pathways are required by code. The 48-fiber count supports high-density distribution frames, patch panels, and backbone interconnects. It is typically used in multimode OM1 infrastructure supporting legacy fiber runs and applications requiring 62.5/125 micrometer multimode fiber.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation cable for indoor plenum fiber optic backbone and horizontal cabling systems using OM1 multimode infrastructure.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage or telecommunications cabling contractor in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) Article 770 governing optical fiber cables. Verify that all pathways, conduit, and termination hardware are rated for plenum use before pulling cable through air-handling spaces. Do not exceed the cable minimum bend radius during installation to avoid fiber damage. Terminate and test all fibers with appropriate OM1-compatible connectors and optical loss test equipment per project specifications.
