The BELDEN INC. FI1D024PK is an indoor fiber optic distribution cable rated OFNP (Optical Fiber Nonconductive Plenum) with a 24-fiber OM1 multimode core. OFNP plenum rating means the cable meets fire and smoke requirements for installation in air-handling spaces without conduit. OM1 multimode fiber supports 62.5-micron core glass, suitable for legacy multimode network infrastructure. This type of cable is typically installed by low-voltage contractors, structured cabling technicians, and licensed electricians working on data or telecommunications backbone runs inside commercial or institutional buildings.
Distribution-style indoor fiber cable is designed for tight-space routing through ceilings, walls, conduit, and cable trays inside a building envelope. The 24-fiber count makes it a practical choice for backbone segments connecting telecom rooms, patch panels, and active equipment rooms in mid-size to large commercial facilities. OFNP-rated cables are required by code in plenum air-handling spaces and are also acceptable in non-plenum zones, providing installation flexibility across mixed-use floor plans.
Designed as an indoor plenum-rated multimode distribution cable compatible with standard OM1 fiber optic connectors, patch panels, and splice enclosures used in commercial structured cabling systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified low-voltage or fiber optic cabling technician following TIA-568 structured cabling standards. Power down any active equipment connected to the fiber pathway before splicing or terminating. Do not exceed the cable minimum bend radius during pulls through conduit or trays, as exceeding bend limits can cause signal loss or fiber damage. Plenum-rated cable must be used in any air-handling space as defined by the NEC.
