The BD MANUFACTURING SPT644 is a reducing tee fitting designed for polyethylene piping systems joined by socket fusion. It measures 1-1/4 inches on the run with 3/4-inch branch and outlet connections, and is manufactured to SDR11 dimensional standards. All three ports use socket fusion end connections, making this fitting appropriate for gas distribution, water service, and other pressure piping applications where heat-fused PE joints are specified. Licensed plumbing and gas contractors install this fitting as part of underground or above-grade polyethylene pipeline assemblies.
This reducing tee is suited for residential and light commercial PE piping systems where the main line transitions from 1-1/4 inches to a 3/4-inch branch. It is commonly used in natural gas distribution laterals, propane service lines, and potable water mains. Socket fusion joining requires a dedicated fusion tool, proper preheat time, and adherence to pipe and fitting manufacturer joining procedures.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for SDR11 polyethylene piping systems using socket fusion joining at 1-1/4-inch and 3/4-inch nominal pipe sizes.
Socket fusion fittings must be installed by qualified plumbing or gas piping contractors familiar with PE fusion procedures. Depressurize and isolate the line before cutting into any existing system. Use a manufacturer-approved socket fusion tool set to the correct temperature and follow published heat soak and cooling times precisely — improper fusion is a leading cause of joint failure. Work must comply with applicable local codes and standards such as ASTM D2513 for gas service or AWWA C906 for water service.
