The BD MANUFACTURING SPMA65 is a reducing adapter fitting designed to transition between a 1.25-inch socket fusion connection and a 1-inch male pipe thread (MPT) connection. This fitting is used in thermoplastic piping systems where a reduction in line size is needed alongside a change in connection method. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of adapter when joining plastic pipe runs to threaded fittings, valves, or equipment ports. The socket fusion end requires heat fusion tooling for a secure, leak-free bond to compatible plastic pipe, while the MPT end threads directly into a female-threaded fitting or valve body.
This reducing adapter is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation, and fluid-handling systems that use socket fusion plastic pipe. It is commonly installed at transition points between plastic main lines and threaded fixture connections, manifold ports, or equipment inlets. The 1.25-inch to 1-inch reduction makes it appropriate for branch takeoffs or system reductions where flow is being stepped down within the same piping run.
Designed as an OEM-style reducing adapter for thermoplastic piping systems using socket fusion connections on 1.25-inch pipe transitioning to 1-inch male threaded fittings.
Installation of the socket fusion end requires proper heat fusion tooling sized for 1.25-inch pipe and must be performed by a qualified plumber or pipefitter following the pipe manufacturer's fusion procedures. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before cutting into any existing line. The MPT end should be wrapped with thread sealant tape or paste rated for the fluid service before threading into the mating fitting. Do not over-torque the threaded connection, and allow socket fusion joints to cool fully before pressurizing the system.
