The BD MANUFACTURING SPMA44 is a straight male adapter designed to transition between polyethylene (PE) piping systems and male threaded pipe connections. One end accepts PE pipe via socket fusion, while the other end is a 3/4-inch male pipe thread (MPT). Both ends are 3/4 inch, making this a same-size transition fitting. It is used by licensed plumbers and utility contractors working on PE water service lines, irrigation systems, and other low-pressure fluid distribution applications where a threaded connection is required at the termination point.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial applications where polyethylene main lines tie into threaded fittings, valves, or equipment. The socket fusion end requires proper fusion tooling and technique to create a permanent, leak-free joint with compatible PE pipe. The MPT end threads into a standard female-threaded port or fitting. It is typically installed during new construction, service line replacement, or irrigation system assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style fitting for use with 3/4-inch polyethylene pipe systems requiring a transition to male pipe thread connections.
Socket fusion connections must be made using the correct fusion tool, face, and procedure per ASTM F1668 and applicable local codes. Shut off and depressurize the line before cutting into an existing PE system. The MPT end should be wrapped with thread sealant tape or compound before threading into the mating female fitting. This fitting is typically installed by licensed plumbers or irrigation contractors.
