The BD MANUFACTURING SPE64 is a reducing 90-degree elbow fitting designed for polyethylene piping systems joined by socket fusion. Manufactured from PE4710 polyethylene to SDR 11 dimensional standards, this fitting transitions from a 1-1/4 inch line down to a 3/4 inch line while making a 90-degree directional change in a single component. It is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on underground water distribution, geothermal loop systems, and similar PE piping applications where a reliable, heat-fused joint is required.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial PE pipe installations where direction changes and line reductions occur in the same location. Socket fusion connections provide a fully fused, monolithic joint with no mechanical fasteners, making this elbow appropriate for buried, concealed, or pressurized service lines. Typical applications include potable water service, irrigation mains, and hydronic distribution piping built to SDR 11 pressure ratings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for SDR 11 polyethylene piping systems using socket fusion joining methods.
Installation must be performed by a qualified plumber or pipefitter trained in polyethylene socket fusion procedures. Shut off and depressurize the line before cutting into any existing system. Socket fusion requires proper heating tool temperature, insertion depth, and cooling time per the pipe and fitting manufacturer specifications — do not rush the cooling phase or apply pressure to the joint before it has fully set. Reference applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM standards for buried PE piping installations.
