The BD MANUFACTURING SPE44 is a 90-degree straight elbow fitting designed for polyethylene piping systems joined by socket fusion. Sized at 3/4 inches on both ends with socket fusion connections on each side, this fitting is manufactured to SDR11 schedule, making it suitable for pressure-rated PE piping applications. It is used to change flow direction by 90 degrees within a buried or above-ground polyethylene pipeline. Licensed plumbers, gas distribution technicians, and utility contractors are the typical installers for this type of fitting.
This elbow fitting is applied in residential and commercial polyethylene piping systems, including natural gas distribution, propane service lines, and potable water mains where socket fusion joining is the specified connection method. SDR11 polyethylene fittings are commonly specified for underground service in corrosive soil conditions where metal fittings are not suitable. Both ends accept 3/4-inch socket fusion tooling, consistent with standard PE pipe fusion procedures.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for 3/4-inch SDR11 polyethylene piping systems using socket fusion joining methods.
Installation should be performed by a qualified plumber or pipefitter familiar with polyethylene socket fusion procedures. Power down or depressurize the line and purge any gas or liquid before cutting into an existing system. Socket fusion requires a properly sized fusion tool heated to the manufacturer-specified temperature for the pipe material. Follow applicable codes including IFGC and AWWA standards for PE piping installation and inspection.
