Product Description

The Barnes & Jones 159P is a cage unit designed for use with Barnes & Jones steam traps including models 41T, 42T, 653, and 654. This unit replaces the existing thermostat and seat, providing a heavy-duty thermostatic element enclosed in a protective stainless steel cage. The construction is designed for precise calibration, ensuring effective opening and closing during operation. The design includes a cage protrusion that fits into the orifice of the trap, and a high tension spring that secures the cover to prevent movement.

When the thermostatic element detects steam, it expands to close the ball plunger against its internal seat to contain the steam until it condenses to liquid. The cooling of the steam releases pressure, allowing the element to contract and reset the plunger for condensate drainage.
