The BANDO xpa1550 is a cogged metric V-belt in the XPA series, designed for power transmission applications where heat management and flexibility are critical. With a nominal top width of 13mm and a nominal thickness of 10mm, this belt features transverse cogs along its inner surface that allow the belt to bend and flex against the pulley during operation. That flexing action dissipates heat more efficiently than a standard V-belt, keeping drive temperatures lower under sustained load. Licensed HVAC technicians, mechanical contractors, and industrial maintenance professionals commonly install this belt type on equipment drives requiring a metric cross-section.
The xpa1550 is suited for both single-belt and multi-belt drive configurations. It performs well on small-diameter pulleys and on drives that include twists, turns, or tight-wrap geometry. The cogged design reduces bending stress at the pulley contact point, which extends belt service life in demanding applications. Multiple XPA-series belts can be run side by side in wide metric belt drives that require matched sets for balanced load sharing.

Belt installation should be performed by a qualified mechanical or HVAC technician with the drive fully de-energized and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Never force the belt onto a sheave with a pry bar, as this can damage the cords and shorten belt life. Confirm pulley alignment and proper belt tension with a tension gauge before returning the drive to service. Inspect sheave grooves for wear before installing a replacement belt.
