The BANDO BX54 is a classic cogged V-belt in the BX section, designed for power transmission in industrial, HVAC, and mechanical drive applications. It measures 57 inches in outside length with a 21/32-inch (0.66 inch) width and a thickness of 13/32 inch (0.41 inch). The cogged design reduces bending resistance, which improves flexibility and heat dissipation compared to a standard wrapped belt. Constructed from rubber with heat-resistant and oil-resistant properties, this belt is built to handle demanding drive environments. It meets ARPM standards for dimensional consistency and performance reliability.
The BX54 is suited for use in residential and light commercial equipment including HVAC blower drives, compressor drives, agricultural equipment, and general industrial machinery. The BX section cogged belt is a common replacement in systems that originally specified a standard BX-series belt. The 54-inch internal length and 57-inch outside length are key measurements for confirming correct fitment on existing sheave setups. Installation is typically performed by HVAC technicians, maintenance mechanics, or millwrights during scheduled belt replacement or drive system service.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for drive systems specifying a BX section cogged V-belt with a 57-inch outside length and 21/32-inch belt width.
Belt replacement should be performed by a qualified technician with the drive system fully de-energized and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Never pry or roll a V-belt onto a sheave under tension; always release idler or motor mount tension before seating the belt. After installation, set belt tension according to the equipment manufacturer's deflection specification and re-check tension after the first few hours of operation. Inspect sheave grooves for wear before installing a new belt, as worn grooves accelerate belt degradation.
