The BANDO AX85 is a classic cogged V-belt designed for power transmission applications in HVAC, agricultural, industrial, and commercial equipment. Built from rubber with a cogged (notched) underside, it reduces heat buildup and increases flexibility over smaller-diameter sheaves compared to a standard wrapped belt. The AX section profile measures 1/2 inch wide and 5/16 inch thick, with an outside length of 87 inches and a belt pitch of 86.3 inches. At 0.839 pounds, it is a lightweight, single-belt replacement suitable for a wide range of motorized drive systems. HVAC technicians, equipment mechanics, and maintenance professionals are the primary installers.
This belt is used wherever an AX-section cogged V-belt is specified, including condenser fan drives, blower assemblies, compressor drives, pump drives, and general industrial power transmission setups. The cogged construction allows the belt to run cooler and deliver improved grip on variable-speed or high-cycle applications. It is rated for heat resistance and oil resistance, making it suitable for engine compartment and outdoor mechanical environments. The belt ships as a single unit and conforms to ARPM industry standards.
Designed as a direct replacement for any drive system specifying an AX85 or AX-section cogged V-belt with an 87-inch outside length and 1/2-inch width.
Belt replacement should be performed by a qualified technician with the drive system fully de-energized and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Loosen the drive motor or tensioner to allow belt installation without forcing the belt over sheave flanges, which can damage the cord structure. Check sheave groove condition and alignment before installing the new belt. Do not apply belt dressing compounds to cogged rubber belts, as this can degrade the rubber compound and reduce belt life.
