The BANDO AX28 is a classic cogged V-belt designed for demanding power transmission applications in HVAC, refrigeration, agricultural, and general industrial equipment. Constructed from heat-resistant and oil-resistant rubber, this AX-section belt measures 30 inches in outside length, 0.5 inches in width, and 0.31 inches in thickness. The cogged profile reduces bending resistance, allowing the belt to run cooler and more efficiently over smaller-diameter sheaves compared to a standard wrapped belt. It conforms to ARPM standards and is suited for systems where reliable, continuous belt drive operation is required.
The AX28 is commonly installed in residential and light commercial HVAC blower assemblies, condenser fan drives, compressor drives, and a range of general-purpose motor-to-load power transmission setups. HVAC technicians, refrigeration mechanics, and industrial maintenance professionals will encounter this belt section in equipment using AX-series drive systems. Its cogged construction is particularly well suited for variable-speed and high-flex applications where a conventional solid-back belt would generate excess heat or slip.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for AX28-section V-belt applications in HVAC blower drives, condenser fan assemblies, and general-purpose motor drive systems using AX-series sheaves and pulleys.
AX-section V-belts are typically installed by HVAC technicians or maintenance mechanics. Always disconnect and lock out electrical power to the unit before removing or installing a drive belt. Loosen the motor mounting bolts to relieve tension before slipping the belt off the sheave — never pry or roll a belt onto a pulley under full tension, as this can damage the belt cords. After installation, adjust tension per the equipment manufacturer's specification and inspect sheave alignment before returning the unit to service.
