The BANDO 5VX490 is a narrow cogged V-belt designed for industrial and HVAC drive applications requiring efficient power transmission. Built from rubber with a cogged (notched) underside profile, this belt reduces bending stress, runs cooler, and delivers higher flexibility than conventional wrapped belts of the same section. At 49 inches outside length and 5/8 inch width, the 5VX section fits narrow-groove sheaves common in blower, fan, compressor, and pump drive assemblies. ARPM standards compliance confirms dimensional and performance conformance across interchangeable belt and sheave systems. Rated for heat and oil resistance, it holds up in mechanical rooms and rooftop units where temperature swings and airborne contaminants are routine.
The 5VX490 is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC systems, industrial fan drives, pump drives, and general power transmission setups that use 5VX narrow cogged sheaves. Typical applications include belt-drive air handlers, rooftop unit blower sections, and auxiliary equipment drives where the narrow 5VX section is specified. The cogged design makes it a direct performance upgrade or like-for-like replacement in any drive using 49-inch outside-circumference 5VX belts.
Designed as a direct replacement for any drive system specifying a 5VX section cogged V-belt with 49 inches outside length and 5/8 inch width, conforming to ARPM dimensional standards.
Installation is typically performed by a qualified HVAC technician or millwright. Disconnect and lock out all power to the drive system before removing the old belt or accessing the sheave assembly. Use a belt tension gauge to set proper deflection after installation — do not pry the belt over sheave flanges, as this can damage the cord structure. Inspect sheave grooves for wear or misalignment before fitting the new belt.
