The BALAX 18479-91L is a bottoming-style thread forming tap designed for M6x1.00 metric coarse threads at a 6H class of fit. Manufactured from powdered metal high-speed steel and finished with a Bal-Plus coating, it is built for cold-forming internal threads without cutting or producing chips. The tap has an overall length of 2.5 inches, a thread length of 0.79 inches, and a tapping depth of 1.0 inch. With 2.5 chamfered threads at the lead, it seats close to the bottom of blind holes. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this tap in CNC machining centers, drill presses, or tapping machines working with die cast aluminum components.
