The BALAX 13447-01T is a thread forming tap designed for producing internal threads in ductile materials without cutting. It operates by cold-forming the thread profile, displacing material rather than removing chips, which produces stronger threads with a burnished finish. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this bottoming tap is suited for threading close to the bottom of blind holes. The TiN coating reduces friction and extends tool life in production environments. It carries a Class of Fit of 2B and 3B with a Thread Limit of H7, giving machinists reliable dimensional control on threaded features.

This tap is rated for blind hole threading applications in ferrous and non-ferrous ductile materials where chip removal is a concern. The bottoming chamfer, with 2.5 chamfered threads, allows threading to within a minimal distance from the bottom of a drilled hole.
