The BALAX 12666-000 is a thread forming tap designed for right-hand, through-hole threading in ductile materials. Unlike cutting taps, thread forming taps cold-form the thread profile without producing chips, resulting in stronger threads and longer tool life in suitable materials. This tap is manufactured from high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish and is configured in a plug chamfer style with 4 chamfered threads for controlled entry. It carries a 2B class of fit and an H6 thread limit, making it appropriate for standard UNC internal thread production in production and maintenance environments alike.
